The Velier Royal Navy Very Old Rum, intended by Luca Gargano, patron of Velier, is a tribute to the blend once served to sailors serving in the mighty British military fleet. In fact, reading the composition, I believe that the final product is much more sumptuous than the one served at the time. This rum contains within it the Caroni of Trinidad, which has matured more than 20 years in the tropics, rum from Demerara (British Guyana) which has matured at least 15 years in Europe and, last but not least, rum from Jamaica, which has matured more than 12 years in situ, with an average age of 17.42 years! They are all British-style rums from the former colonies of the largest Empire that human history has ever seen! The blending took place in Scotland, as stated on the label, and the final product, unique in its kind, has a full grade of 57.18%.
