Very nice, well-used, mask used in initiation rites or judicial matters, where they represent gosts or the ancestors.
This mask was used by the Guéré-people of South-Ivory Coast. Carved in typical Guéré style with prominent tube-like eyes and an open mouth. Painted with white and red paint. Hight; 33 cm incl. the steel socle.
Collected in the Ivory Coast in the 1990`s and from a private Dutch collection.
