Candelero (2) - .925 plata - Hanau Tradition
Matched pair of continental European candlesticks dating to the late 19th / early 20th century, executed in solid sterling silver (925) with decorative porcelain stems.
The candlesticks are constructed with solid silver bases, candle cups, and drip pans, combined with molded porcelain columns imitating hardstone (onyx/jade aesthetic), a popular historicist design approach of the period. The silver components are workshop-assembled and numbered, consistent with professional production.
Each base bears a .925 silver mark, confirming sterling standard. The accompanying stylised bird/griffin device and numeric punches are characteristic of Hanau-style export silver, widely produced in Germany and the Austro-Hungarian sphere for the international market circa 1890–1915.
The pair is well matched, structurally sound, and presents with an attractive natural patina.
