Objetos budistas - Cobre - 1800-1850, 1850 - 1900 - Placa de cobre repoussé.

Offered is a very finely executed repoussé piece of craftsmanship. It depicts an episode from the Buddha's life with a large retinue. Standing under the ceremonial umbrella, he is flanked by two of his disciples. The serpent on which he stands symbolizes the benevolence and protective function of snakes in buddhist mythology (Naga). One of his retinue members carries the victory banner (Dhvaja), a symbol of the Buddha's triumph over ignorance, desire, and fear. The two monkey gods offering honey could be an allusion to his sojourn in the Parileyyaka Forest. The figures and vegetation are wonderfully detailed. Over time, this beautiful artwork has developed a lovely patina. There is a small hole in the center at the top. It likely dates from the 19th century and is of North Indian, Nepalese, or Tibetan origin. The dimensions are 24 x 32.5 cm. Insured shipping with tracking . NO shipping to Great Britain and Switzerland!!
