Palanca de control del acelerador - Latón
Rare and authentic antique brass marine control lever, featuring an integrated spring-loaded dashpot / damper mechanism. This type of mechanical control was commonly used on early marine engines and onboard machinery in the late 19th to early 20th century.
The piece was salvaged in Istanbul, a historic hub of Ottoman naval and commercial maritime activity, and is most likely from the late Ottoman period, pre-World War I. While the exact vessel is unknown, the form, materials, and construction are fully consistent with early marine or harbour craft equipment of the era.
Distance between mounting holes 72mm
Height of throttle: 70mm
The brass has developed a beautiful, untouched patina, showing honest age, marine use, and oxidation consistent with long service. Importantly, the mechanism remains functional: when the button is pressed, the dashpot retracts smoothly and cleanly, demonstrating good internal preservation.
A highly decorative and historically evocative piece, ideal for: Maritime collectors, nautical décor or display, museum or educational settings.
