Japanese Katsuobushi Shaver (Kezuriki) with Drawer – Wooden Traditional Kitchen Tool, Showa Retro Vintage This is a traditional Japanese wooden katsuobushi shaver (kezuriki), a kitchen tool used in Japan to shave dried bonito flakes (katsuobushi) for making dashi broth, an essential element of Japanese cuisine. The shaver has a classic built-in plane blade structure: when the bonito block is moved back and forth across the blade, the shaved flakes fall inside and are collected in the integrated drawer below. Its functional design and warm wood character reflect the atmosphere of Showa-era everyday life in Japan. Today, items like this are appreciated not only as practical tools but also as collectible Japanese folk craft (mingei) pieces and as Japanese vintage interior decor / shop display.
