Description:
Egyptian faience ushabti depicted in mummiform stance, with arms folded over the chest. The figure shows a simplified but coherent modelling typical of Late Period and early Ptolemaic funerary production.
The turquoise-blue faience glaze is partially preserved, with areas of wear and mineral encrustations consistent with age and burial environment. Facial features are worn but still legible, and the overall proportions are correct for standard non-inscribed ushabti figures intended for funerary use.
This type of ushabti was placed in tombs to act as a symbolic servant for the deceased in the afterlife.
Condition:
Good overall condition. Visible surface wear and glaze losses. Ancient repair or consolidation visible, stable and honest.
Provenance:
Private collection of a French physician, assembled prior to the 1970s.
