Burmese amber, also known as Burmese copal, is a type of fossilized tree resin primarily found in the Hukawng Valley of Myanmar. It is renowned for its exceptional ability to preserve ancient life forms, including insects, plants, and other organisms often trapped inside. This amber is estimated to be about 99 million years old, dating back to the Cretaceous period (before the appearance of Tyrannosaurus rex!). It has a rich golden yellow color with reddish-brown tones and high transparency, making it highly valued by collectors and scientists, offering us a rare glimpse into prehistoric ecosystems.
