There are various theories as to whether it is messy hair extensions or hair with a false hair attached, but the generally accepted theory is that it was created as a mask of a goddess. Compared to the pure and lively Masume, it is a more active goddess. It is used for a shrine maiden possessed by the spirit of Tatsutahime "Makikinu" from Miwa Myojin "Tatsuta" of Amaterasu Omikami "Miwa", who is the later shite of "Ema".
