Baigorri De Garage 2018 is a masterpiece of Rioja Alavesa, crafted from Tempranillo vines older than 60 years, rooted in rocky calcareous-clay soil at high altitude in Samaniego. Its grapes are harvested by hand, sorted with precision, then vinified using gravity, indigenous yeasts, long maceration, and aged ~22 months in new French oak barrels. The wine pours with an intense, deep purple hue. On the nose it reveals rich blackberries and dark cherries, intertwined with mineral notes, toasted oak, smoky and earthy shades, and hints of vanilla, licorice and underbrush. The palate is full-bodied yet elegant: round and lush texture, firm ripe tannins, vibrant acidity that balances the oak, ending in a long, smoky finish.
