Striking pair of antique Italian wall-mounted devotional cabinets, likely dating to the late 18th to early 19th century, originally created for use in a private chapel or domestic oratory. Executed in painted wood, these cabinets feature a warm terra-cotta red ground with hand-painted green decorative motifs and subtle gilt accents along the edges. Each cabinet is fitted with a glazed door enclosing an interior shelf, originally intended to protect and display devotional objects such as reliquaries, small sacred sculptures, ex-votos, or prayer books. Their sober yet refined decoration and architectural proportions are characteristic of Tuscan ecclesiastical furniture made for noble residences rather than public religious institutions. Offered as a matching pair, these cabinets were designed to be displayed symmetrically, likely flanking an altar, niche, or devotional focal point. Today, they translate beautifully into both historic and contemporary interiors, functioning as display cabinets, wall vitrines, or sculptural architectural elements. Good antique condition, consistent with age and devotional use. The painted surfaces show authentic wear, small losses, and patina, all appropriate to their age and history. Decorative details remain clearly legible. The wood structure is sound and stable. There are traces of historic woodworm activity, which were treated in the past and are no longer active. The glass panels are intact and secure. Hinges and doors function properly. Overall condition is honest and original, with no modern over-restoration.
