2006 Bodega Numanthia, Termanthia - Toro - 1 Botella (0,75 L)

ONLY 6000 Bottles produced The 2006 Termanthia comes from Bodega Numanthia, an estate in the Toro DO in northwest Spain celebrated for producing powerful, deeply concentrated red wines from old Tinta de Toro vines — the local form of Tempranillo. What sets Termanthia apart is its origin: the grapes are sourced from a tiny historic vineyard of centenary, ungrafted vines planted long before the phylloxera crisis. The yields are exceptionally low, and the resulting wine reflects this intensity and rarity. The 2006 vintage displays a deep, almost opaque ruby colour and was crafted with meticulous care — hand-harvested fruit, extended maceration and ageing in French oak contribute to its complexity. The wine received strong critical acclaim, earning high scores from respected critics and publications for its balance of power and elegance. On the nose, it reveals layers of dark fruit such as blackberry and black cherry, supported by spice, toasted oak and subtle herbal and floral notes. On the palate, Termanthia 2006 is full-bodied and intense, with rich, velvety texture, firm but polished tannins and lively acidity that gives structure and lift. Flavours of concentrated black fruit are complemented by hints of espresso, licorice and mineral complexity, leading to a long, expressive finish. Though still youthful in style for its age, this wine has great ageing potential and is best enjoyed with hearty dishes such as roasted meats, game or mature cheeses that can stand up to its depth and intensity.
