Dated 1846 Swedish wooden storage chest, finished in a traditional red paint and fitted with hand-forged iron hardware. The front is prominently stenciled with the date “1846”, flanking a large iron escutcheon and keyhole plate. Decorative iron corner brackets, strap hinges, and side carrying handles reinforce the sturdy construction and reflect practical 19th-century Scandinavian craftsmanship.
The interior shows a warm, aged patina from long use. The chest displays honest wear consistent with age, including surface marks and oxidation to the iron fittings. The exterior surface was likely repainted during the mid-20th century.
