About the Apponyi Pattern The Apponyi pattern is one of Herend’s most iconic designs. It originates from the famous “Indian Basket” motif that became popular in the 18th–19th centuries. Count Albert Apponyi, a member of a prominent Hungarian aristocratic family, requested a simplified and more elegant version of the Indian Basket design around 1930. The result was the Apponyi pattern, characterized by its central stylized flower motif and rich hand-painted detailing with luxurious gold accents. To this day, it remains one of Herend’s most beloved and collectible patterns. The items are original Herend products. In addition to the original mark, they also bear an additional “D” marking, indicating that they were produced for a specific company. During the 1970s, the Herend Porcelain Manufactory supplied its finest porcelain to the largest state enterprises, allowing top management and political leaders to use the most elite tableware. The “D” marking has strong collector’s value, as such pieces were typically owned by high-ranking executives and political figures. Herend consciously cultivated relationships with influential companies and institutions, making these marked sets historically and culturally significant. Shipping Shipping is extremely safe: Double-boxed Wrapped in air-bubble protective material Thoroughly cushioned with paper Your items will be packed with great care to ensure they arrive in perfect condition.
