Antique - Spherical Pendant Watch - 1850 - 1900

Antique Spherical Pendant Watch – Mechanical Hand-Wound – 26 mm – Early 20th Century A charming antique spherical pendant watch dating from the early 20th century. This unusual timepiece features an elegant ball-shaped case, a design that makes it both a functional watch and a decorative jewellery object. The watch measures approximately 26 mm in diameter, making it a small pendant or ladies watch that could be worn on a chain, chatelaine or necklace. The dial is white with black Arabic numerals and delicate decorative hands. It shows a beautiful natural patina consistent with its age, giving the watch an authentic antique character. The domed crystal enhances the classic appearance. The spherical case opens to reveal the mechanical movement, protected by a transparent back. The movement is a traditional mechanical hand-wound calibre, typical of early 20th-century watchmaking. The movement appears clean and the watch is currently running; however, the long-term accuracy has not been tested. The side crown allows winding and setting of the time. The watch also retains its chain attachment, making it ideal to be worn as a pendant watch or carried as a small pocket watch. These spherical watches were produced in limited quantities and are increasingly sought after by collectors because of their distinctive and unusual design. Condition: Good vintage condition with signs of age and use. The dial shows natural aging. The case has light scratches consistent with normal wear. Please examine the photos carefully as they form part of the description. Specifications Diameter: approx. 26 mm Type: Pendant / spherical pocket watch Movement: Mechanical hand-wound Dial: White dial with Arabic numerals Hands: Decorative gilt hands Crystal: Domed Crown: Side crown Period: Early 20th century (circa 1900–1920) With chain attachment A beautiful and uncommon antique timepiece, ideal for collectors of unusual watches or antique jewellery watches.
