The art of the Brussels-based artist of Spanish origin, Angel Vergara, spans a wide range of disciplines: performance, video, installation, drawing and painting. For the artist, these techniques serve as means of exploring and expanding the scope of painting and its potential for renewal, from both an aesthetic and an ethical perspective. An advocate of a new figurative approach, Vergara addresses the contemporary issues and challenges facing painting, such as the reinterpretation of images already circulated in the media or their manipulation through the language of moving images.
Angel Vergara was in charge of the Belgian Pavilion at the 54th Venice Biennale in 2011 (curator: Luc Tuymans). His work has been exhibited in numerous international museum solo exhibitions.
26 contemporary artworks are presented thanks to the generosity of artists, galleries and collectors who support this solidarity sale.
