Scheurich - Jarrón (2) - Altura: 38 cm - Loza de barro

Pair of Large Vintage West German Art Pottery Floor Vases – Flamingo Design (40-38) A stunning matching pair of mid-century modern (MCM) floor vases produced in West Germany during the late 1960s/early 1970s. These tall, heavy ceramic pieces feature a beautiful "Naturalist" or "Safari" motif, showcasing raised white slip-trailed flamingos and marsh reeds against a dark, textured chocolate-brown glaze. Hand-finished white earthenware with raised slip-trailed (engobe) decoration and a matte textured glaze. The vases are impressive in size and presence, perfect for a Brutalist or Bohemian interior. • Manufacturer: Likely Bay Keramik or Scheurich. If you look at the unglazed "foot" (the ring on the very bottom where it touched the kiln shelf), you will likely see a pale cream or off-white color. This "white clay" was a signature of Bay Keramik, whereas other companies like Scheurich sometimes used a redder or buffer clay. • Origin: W. Germany (stamped on base). • Model Number: 40-38 (The '38' indicates a height of 38 cm). • Condition: Excellent vintage condition. No major chips. Natural glaze variations consistent with the era. One vase was probably broken in half and repaired professionally before I acquired it, 20 years ago. See photos for details. • Dimensions: Height: 38 cm | Weight: 2.85kg & 2.70kg Heavy/Sturdy. Opening diameter: 12cm Upper circumference 71cm (largest part) Ideal for: Collectors of West German "Fat Lava" era pottery or as statement pieces for a fireplace or entryway. - Pick up or delivery possible around Lake Léman/Geneva.
