Born in 1921 in Ibaraki Prefecture. He mastered woodblock printing and kirie (paper cutting), creating serialized articles for a major newspaper that became a social phenomenon. He lyrically depicted Japanese rural landscapes and the lives of common people through woodblock prints and kirie. He was an active member of the Japan Children's Publication Artists Federation. Died in 2009.
