Antiguo Egipto Antiguo Egipto – Amuleto Shu Amuleto

Ancient Egypt – Faience protective amulet of a standing female figure, possibly Shu Late Period, c. 664–332 BC Description: This lot features a rare Ancient Egyptian faience amulet depicting a standing anthropomorphic female figure, rendered in pale blue-green faience. The figure is shown frontally with a stylised body and raised or extended arms, a pose commonly associated with protection, invocation, or divine presence in personal and funerary amulets. The precise identification of the figure is uncertain. While the overall form may tentatively recall representations of Maat, the goddess of cosmic order and balance, the absence of her defining ostrich feather attribute means the amulet is more cautiously interpreted as a generic protective or votive figure, a type widely produced during the Late Period. Such figures were intended to confer protection, regeneration, and divine favour upon the wearer. The amulet measures approximately 26 mm in height. The surface shows natural wear, glaze loss, and burial patina consistent with age. No modern restoration is observed. The amulet is mounted on a modern faux leather string for display and wearability; the string is modern and easily removable, while the amulet itself is ancient. ****** Dear bidders, please note that we do not ship to the UK or to countries outside the European Union. If you are located outside the EU and win this lot, the sale will unfortunately have to be cancelled. We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding. Enjoy the bidding. (M3)
