Distilled in 1979 and bottled as the 9th release in the Special Releases series, this Port Ellen is one of the later official bottlings from this iconic closed Islay distillery. Bottled at natural cask strength of 57.7%, it reflects the established style that made these annual releases so sought after. Port Ellen closed in 1983 and its remaining stock has been gradually released in limited quantities, making each edition an important part of the distillery’s legacy. The whisky shows a balanced combination of coastal influence, citrus notes, refined peat smoke and a dry, mineral character, shaped by long maturation.
