Dutch Art Deco Mirror, The Hague School, circa 1920 A small and elegant Dutch Art Deco mirror in the Hague School style, dating to around 1920. The design is restrained and with a gently stepped top part, dark linear accents around the mirror plate, and oak frame. This is the kind of object in which Dutch modernism shows its strength. Nothing is overstated, yet every line has been considered. The composition is simple,austere, but the proportions are excellent and the silhouette just distinctive enough. In the Hague School design, geometry, material and proportion carried the decorative weight. Though modest in size, it has a composed and decorative presence on the wall. A very versatile piece, suitable for a bedroom, hallway, or bathroom, where its clean shape and warm materiality would sit beautifully. It also works well as part of a larger wall arrangement, or in a more intimate corner where a small but characterful accent is needed. The mirror glass itself is in very good vintage condition, with only a few little spots inside the glass (it is the original mirror)
