George Grosz (1893–1959) - Charakterkopf

George Grosz (1893–1959). “Charakterkopf" Offset lithograph from 1923. Sheet 55 from of the immeasurable work "Ecce Homo" (published by Malik, Berlin, 1923). Ausgabe D. 35 x 25 cm. Handling marks on the fragile paper of this edition and foxing points. See photographs, please, which are part of the description of the work. In "Ecce Homo," Grosz mordantly satirizes the depravity, violence, and injustice of the Weimar Republic in the aftermath of World War I. The work, which uses art as political critique, depicts a decadent, militaristic, and bourgeois society. The engravings portray war wounded, prostitutes, scarred soldiers, and wealthy bourgeois, highlighting the brutal contrast between social classes and revealing the corruption of the ruling class and the human degradation left in the war's wake. __________________________________ Professional packaging with all security measures.
