Meiji, Imari - Cuenco - Porcelana

A large and beautiful Japanese Imari porcelain bowl from the Meiji period, made in Arita. The decoration is detailed, painted in the classic Imari palette of underglaze cobalt blue, iron-red, and green enamels. The interior is decorated with a central medallion showing a Hou-ou (phoenix) in iron-red. Three large cartouches depict a Bijin, a woman in a traditional kimono, set in a garden scene with cherry blossoms. Between them are three smaller medallions with lotus blossoms and geometric Fuku (happiness) patterns in blue and white. The exterior features a flowing Karakusa scrolling vine in underglaze blue with iron-red leaves, and circular medallions with a four-petal floral crest. The porcelain has a subtle celadon-white tint. The condition is good. No chips, cracks, or repairs. There are some light limestone/watermarks near the inner rim. Some light firing marks and minor color smudges on the exterior, from the firing process. Overall, the piece looks great and is in a good condition.
