Karuizawa is a revered name in the world of whisky, a silent Japanese distillery that achieved legendary status before its closure in 2000. Established in 1956 at the foot of Mount Asama in Nagano Prefecture, its whiskies are celebrated for their unparalleled quality and distinct character. Bottles from Karuizawa are now among the most highly coveted and valuable expressions in the secondary market, representing the pinnacle of Japanese whisky collecting. Its reputation for small-batch production and meticulous craftsmanship has cemented its place as a cult icon among enthusiasts and investors alike.

This Karuizawa 1987 Vintage Fight Club Cask #2031 is an exceptionally rare single cask bottling, representing a diminishing opportunity to acquire liquid from this fabled distillery. Bottled at a robust cask strength of 58.4% ABV, this expression exemplifies the distillery's acclaimed sherry cask maturation, showcasing profound depth and complexity. Such single cask releases from Karuizawa are inherently limited and highly sought after, making this a truly significant acquisition for any serious collector or connoisseur. Its scarcity and the distillery's mythical status ensure its enduring appeal and investment potential.

Tasting Notes:
Colour: Deep mahogany with rich amber reflections.
Nose: A profound symphony of dark dried fruits, antique leather, pipe tobacco, and rich dark chocolate, underpinned by notes of spiced orange peel and old oak.
Palate: Luxuriously full-bodied and intensely complex, revealing layers of stewed plums, figs, and dates, harmoniously balanced with warming spices like cinnamon and nutmeg, dark roasted coffee, and a subtle earthy minerality.
Finish: Exceptionally long and satisfying, with lingering echoes of dark fruit, dry oak tannins, a whisper of dark cocoa, and a delicate, warming spice that slowly fades.
