Founded in 1882 by Charles Mackay and James Whyte, the company’s first blended whisky was Whyte & Mackay Special and proved hugely popular in the UK and other English-speaking countries worldwide. Over the years, Whyte & Mackay have either taken over or merged with the owners of several distilleries including Dalmore, Fettercairn and Tomintoul, and later, their own grain distillery; Invergordon. It is claimed that the secret to the award-winning taste is the triple maturation process and the way it blends, making sure no single whisky dominates another.
