Important original work by the renowned Basque artist Xavier Álvarez de Eulate, a leading figure in contemporary Spanish religious art and a key contributor to the artistic renewal of the Sanctuary of Arantzazu.
This expressive depiction of Christ is executed in mixed media on a rigid wooden panel. The composition displays the artist’s characteristic visual language from the 1970s, combining religious figuration with abstract elements and a bold exploration of colour and texture.
Signed and dated in the lower right corner: “Eulate 24 XII 75”, corresponding to 24 December 1975.
Artwork dimensions: 80 × 60 cm.
Sold with its original metal frame, as shown in the photographs.
The painting is in very good overall condition, showing only minor signs of age consistent with the period.
A copy of an email from representatives associated with the Arantzazu Foundation can be provided. Based on the submitted photographs, they confirmed that the work is unquestionably consistent with Xavier Álvarez de Eulate’s style, technique, subject matter and signature, supporting the attribution to the artist.
