Descripción del vendedor
Silla de acento modernista de contrachapado teñido en amarillo, holandesa, años 70
Una striking Dutch modernist side or accent chair in yellow-stained plywood, with a strongly architectural and cubist appearance. The chair was designed by an architect whose name is unfortunately not known to us. According to the information we received, he produced a small series of 60 chairs of this model.
The design has a clear affinity with Dutch modernism and De Stijl thinking: flat planes, strict geometry, constructional clarity and a strong sense of volume. There is also a subtle echo of Frank Lloyd Wright in the way the chair feels architectural rather than decorative. It is not a chair that disappears into a room. It stands like a small yellow building.
What makes the design especially interesting is the play between mass and openness. Seen from the side, the chair almost appears to have been cut from one solid block or log of wood. From other angles it becomes much lighter and more open, with the plywood planes creating a surprisingly airy structure.
The yellow-stained plywood gives the strict form a pleasant glow. It has a graphic, photogenic quality and works beautifully as a statement piece in a gallery space, bedroom, hallway, studio or artistic interior. It would also be excellent as a display chair for architectural books, magazines or a carefully placed object.
The construction is very well considered. The chair is sturdy, stable and quite heavy, around 10 kg, which gives it a reassuring solidity. It was clearly made by someone with professional knowledge of structure and proportion.
We currently have six chairs available. This listing is for one chair.
Condition
Original vintage condition with signs of age and use. The yellow-stained plywood shows surface marks, scratches, small scuffs, patina and wear consistent with age. The chair remains very sturdy and stable. Please see the photos for a good impression of the condition.
