Masao Yamamoto - A Box of Ku [Signed] - 1998

The first photobook by Japanese photographer Masao Yamamoto, published by Nazraeli Press in 1998. This important early publication introduced Yamamoto’s distinctive photographic world to an international audience. The book contains 80 photographs, including landscapes, still lifes, fragments of the human body and quiet scenes drawn from everyday life. Printed in subtle monochrome and muted tones, the images resemble small memories or visual haiku. Their intimate scale and carefully arranged sequence create a poetic meditation on nature, time, memory and the beauty of overlooked things. Yamamoto is internationally recognised for treating photographs not simply as images but as physical objects. His original prints are often stained, creased, toned or otherwise aged by hand, giving them the appearance of personal relics discovered after many years. A Box of Ku offers an early and highly characteristic expression of this approach. Published in softcover and housed in a cardboard slipcase, with a separate folded bilingual text sheet in Japanese and English. Nazraeli Press, Tucson, 1998 First edition 112 pages 80 illustrations CONDITION The slipcase shows some light rubbing. Overall, the book is in very good condition. SHIPPING Shipped via EMS or DHL. Delivery is available within one week, with a tracking number provided.
