La serie se presenta como una exploración visual de la capacidad de adaptación y supervivencia de la naturaleza, tomando la flor de Protea como centro simbólico y formal. Especie ignífuga por antonomasia, la Protea encierra una paradoja vital: es capaz de resistir las devastaciones de los incendios y de aprovechar la furia del fuego para abrirse, liberar sus semillas y generar nueva vida entre las cenizas.

El artista descontextualiza la figura de la Protea, subvirtiendo radicalmente la tradición de la pintura floral. La flor pierde toda traza de decorativismo o gracia contemplativa, y se entrega mediante una representación pictórica cruda, violenta e impactante, que resalta su naturaleza visceral y su carga dramática.

La operación conceptual parte de una reflexión sobre el hiperrealismo de los modernos documentales naturalistas en 4K. The quintessential fire-resistant species, the Protea embodies a vital paradox: it is capable of withstanding the devastation of wildfires and harnessing the fury of fire to bloom, release its seeds, and generate new life from the ashes.

The artist decontextualizes the image of the Protea, radically subverting the tradition of floral painting. The flower sheds all traces of decorativism or contemplative grace, rendered instead through a raw, violent, and striking painterly style that highlights its visceral nature and dramatic intensity.

This conceptual project stems from a reflection on the hyper-realism of modern 4K nature documentaries.
