Steiff, the legendary German plush toy company, is famous for its artistry, beauty, and lasting quality. They produced incredible stuffed animals of every type, including super fun hand puppets, like this Wittie Owl. In addition to its attractive appearance, this toy is also special because it's an early model #317 handcrafted in Germany between 1955-58, using an endearing felt beak. Steiff uses the nicest mohair plush still with very nice coloring. It has amazing airbrushing details and two amusing flapping wings. Little black tufts on the top of its head complete its friendly personality. Wittie's face is stuffed with excelsior (wood wool) and has a cardboard finger tube for movement. This playful puppet bird can't wait to join your vintage toy collection!
