Large Green Tara 'Shyamatara' - Himalayan Bronze - Nepal
Impressive bronze statue depicting Green Tara (Shyamatara), one of the most revered female deities in Tibetan Buddhism. Tara is portrayed seated in lalitasana (royal ease), symbolizing her readiness to assist all beings. Her right hand displays the abhaya mudra, the gesture of protection and reassurance, while her left hand is positioned in the traditional gesture associated with the lotus, the symbol of purity and compassion.
The figure is richly adorned with an elaborate crown, jewellery and finely engraved garments. An elegant openwork flaming aureole frames the deity, adding depth and refinement to the composition. The sculpture displays a dark, naturally aged patina with traces of wear, oxidation and small casting imperfections consistent with age and devotional use.
The hollow underside retains its original clay casting core, indicating manufacture using the traditional lost-wax casting method. This is a substantial and decorative example, standing 46 cm high, making it considerably larger than the majority of similar devotional bronzes encountered on the market.
A beautiful Himalayan bronze, probably originating from Nepal, dating to the 20th century, combining strong decorative appeal with traditional Buddhist iconography. A fine collector's piece for enthusiasts of Himalayan art, Buddhist sculpture and Asian antiques.
The item will be carefully packed, shipped with insurance and signature on arrival.
