Hamaxitos was an ancient Greek city of the Troad, situated near the southwestern coast of Anatolia. It was closely associated with the celebrated sanctuary of Apollo Smintheus, one of the region’s most important cult centers and mentioned in Homeric tradition. Its coastal position linked it to Aegean trade, while in the late 4th century BC its population and territory were absorbed into the newly founded Alexandria Troas.
