In sports car racing, he achieved Porsche's first overall victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1970, driving a Porsche 917. He also raced in Formula 1 in the 1950s and 60s alongside the legendary Fangio for the Mercedes team. A motorsport legend who recently passed away this year (2026) at the age of 97.
