Gran Bretaña, Escocia. - 4 Banknotes - Various Dates (Sin precio de reserva)

These four banknotes are all British pounds that have ceased to be in circulation and are now used solely for collection purposes. They were issued by both the Royal Bank of Scotland and the Bank of England. Left top: Royal Bank of Scotland £1 note Issuing institution: Royal Bank of Scotland (a local issuing bank in Scotland; it operates under two separate systems compared to the Bank of England) Design: Classical border with Minerva (the goddess of wisdom) and the Goddess of Harvest on the left and right sides, along with a Scottish royal coat of arms at the top Signature: W.R. Ballantyne; this version was issued in the 1960s Note: The Scottish pound was equivalent in value to the English pound at that time; the issuance of £1 notes has since stopped Right top: Bank of England £1 note Issuing institution: Bank of England (the central bank of the UK) Portrait: Queen Elizabeth II; green D series £1 note, signed by John Page (issued between 1970–1980) Circulation history: In the late 1980s, the UK stopped using £1 notes and replaced them with £1 coins Bottom left & bottom right: Bank of England 10 shillings × 2 notes Issuing institution: Bank of England; design featuring the British goddess Britannia; signed by K.O. Peppiatt (issued during the 1940–1950s) Historical context: Shillings were the monetary unit before the British decimal system reform. The conversion rate is: 1 pound (£1) = 20 shillings; therefore, 10 shillings equal half a pound (£0.5). Important date: In 1971, the UK implemented a decimal currency system, and the shilling unit was completely abolished. The 10 shillings notes were never used again in circulation; they are classic items for collectors.
