Elegant antique 19th-century crystal tray, originally created as one of the tiers of a multi-level serving stand. The tray is distinguished by its refined oval form and richly sculpted border, composed of gracefully undulating scallops, deep curves and delicate rocaille-inspired contours. A fine hand-applied gilded line follows the entire shaped rim, beautifully accentuating its elaborate silhouette and adding a luxurious decorative finish. Crafted from remarkably thin and transparent crystal, the piece has an exceptional delicacy and lightness characteristic of fine 19th-century tableware. The small original mounting holes remain visible and testify to its former function as part of a tiered serving structure. Considering its age of well over one hundred years, the tray is beautifully preserved.
