Vatican City – 3 Rare 2 Euro Commemorative Coins in Proof Quality Offered here is a high-quality collector's set of three official 2 Euro commemorative coins from Vatican City. All three coins are in the sought-after Proof / Polished Plate quality. Included in this lot: 2 Euro 2016 – Jubilee of Mercy “Giubileo della Misericordia” Issued for the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy. The design depicts Saint Martin of Tours sharing his cloak with a poor man. The Proof version was issued in a very limited five-digit mintage, making it considerably scarcer than the regular collector's issue. 2 Euro 2015 – 8th World Meeting of Families, Philadelphia, USA “VIII Incontro Mondiale delle Famiglie, Philadelphia USA” Issued to commemorate the 8th World Meeting of Families held in Philadelphia. Proof mintage: only 12,000 pieces. 2 Euro 2021 – 450th Anniversary of the Birth of Caravaggio “450° Anniversario della nascita di Caravaggio” Issued to commemorate the 450th anniversary of the birth of the famous Italian painter Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio. Proof mintage: only 9,300 pieces. Special feature of this lot: All three coins are the significantly rarer Proof versions. The very low mintages, especially the Caravaggio issue with only 9,300 Proof examples, make this an attractive and scarce Vatican collector's lot. An interesting group of commemorative coins featuring important themes from religion, art and Vatican history.
