Fig Nocturne is an expressive contemporary still life inspired by the quiet atmosphere of an evening. Four figs are presented against a deep, almost black background, with rich shades of indigo, violet, crimson and blue creating a dramatic and sophisticated composition. The sliced fig at the centre reveals a warm coral-red interior, becoming the focal point of the painting.

The visible texture and energetic brushstrokes give the artwork a tactile, handmade quality, while the dark palette creates a sense of depth and intimacy. The contrast between the cool tones of the fruit and the warm colours inside the cut fig adds a subtle feeling of warmth and life.
