SBK — Homer Loses His Mind

“Homer Loses His Mind” is an original artwork by SBK that blends vintage painting, Pop Art and contemporary culture in a composition filled with humour, irony and visual contrast.

The piece begins with an original oil painting on wood, depicting a peaceful village scene with a traditional vintage aesthetic, still presented in its ornate classical frame. SBK transforms the original composition with a completely hand-painted acrylic intervention: Homer Simpson bursts through the surface of the painting, mouth wide open and with an exaggerated expression, as if he were about to devour the village beneath him.

The title, “Homer Loses His Mind”, refers to the character’s wild and uncontrolled expression, creating an absurd and unexpected scene within what was originally a calm and traditional landscape.

The main strength of the artwork lies in the contrast between two completely different worlds. On one side, there is a traditional oil painting, an old village and a decorative vintage frame. On the other, one of the most recognisable icons of contemporary popular culture suddenly invades the scene.

The result is a unique piece that combines nostalgia, humour, irreverence, vintage aesthetics and Pop Art.

Homer has been drawn and painted entirely by hand in acrylic, while preserving much of the original painting. The intervention has been designed to create the illusion that the character has literally broken through the artwork itself.

At first glance, the piece may appear to be a conventional antique painting. A closer look completely changes the scene, turning the work into something unexpected, playful and visually striking.
