Descripción del vendedor

I am offering for sale an antique late-19th-century bamboo tea and cake table featuring an exceptionally rare design (in the Anglo-Japanese Aesthetic Movement style).

The true highlight of this piece is its mechanical structure: beneath the round tabletop—which features a brass rim—there are three hinged side leaves with dark lacquer inserts that can be folded out and supported. This ingenious Victorian design allowed for the placement of cake platters and teacups during afternoon tea, enabling the table's surface area to be expanded manifold in moments. When closed, it is highly space-efficient and fits easily into compact areas.
• Age: Approx. 1890 (Victorian era / Turn of the century)
• Material: Bent bamboo structure with dark-toned lacquer inserts and original brass fittings/ferrules.
• Condition: "As-found" condition, commensurate with age, featuring a natural patina. The opening mechanism is functional (see photos).
• Style: Anglo-Japanese / Aesthetic Movement / Collector's piece
An exceptionally rare and hard-to-find model; it represents an excellent investment and serves as a perfect decorative piece for high-end interiors, elegant period apartments, or exclusive cafés.
Height: 77 cm.
Width: 46.5 cm.
When opened: 90 cm.
Tray height: 50 cm.
