ARVY - Belonging - XXL

- Belonging -
ORIGINAL Painting, character portraiture by ARVY

The painting is 100% hand-painted using highly pigmented artist-grade acrylic paints, and finished with a UV-protective satin varnish. It is created on unprimed, firm, robust, and kink-resistant gallery-quality canvas (360 g/m²) without a stretcher frame.
Dimensions: 100x165 cm (entire canvas)

Artwork Overview:

They are different enough to be strangers, yet close enough to feel like home.

Four peculiar figures share a warm, open space. On the left, a wide-faced being surveys the world through several watchful eyes. Beside it, a tall rectangular character carries an uncertain expression, while the central black figure rises like a quiet guardian, crowned with sharp points and a single yellow-rimmed eye. On the right, the largest face turns calmly towards the distance, self-possessed beneath an irregular crown. Their bodies never quite touch, yet repeated circles, triangles and delicate wandering lines quietly connect them.

In Belonging, ARVY imagines a community formed without conformity. Each character carries its own shape, rhythm and way of seeing. Nobody is corrected, translated or asked to become easier to understand. Their closeness comes not from similarity, but from making room for one another.

Against the creamy ground, the deep black forms acquire an almost sculptural presence. Red, cobalt blue, yellow and pale pink act as bright pulses, gently guiding the eye across the composition. Deliberately naïve proportions and Art Brut energy are balanced by an unexpected spaciousness, creating calm beneath the rough contours and instinctive marks.

The painting celebrates the rare comfort of being accepted before being explained. These strange companions do not need a common language. By simply remaining beside one another, they create one.

Artist Bio:
ARVY is a fourth-generation artist continuing a family legacy of visual and performance art. He studied painting at an art college, graduating in 2016, and has been active in the art world ever since.

Raised in a creative household, ARVY began his artistic path in childhood while assisting his father — painter, illusionist and performer Arvydas Gaičiūnas ( Retne ), co-founder of Magic Theater DiArchy. This early exposure to both visual art and stage performance shaped his distinctive, theatrical sensibility.

ARVY’s work is eclectic and emotionally charged, blending elements of contemporary expressionism, symbolism, street energy, and poetic abstraction. His pieces explore contrasts — chaos and harmony, intuition and control — reflecting the pulse of modern life through vivid color and raw gesture.

He has exhibited internationally and his works are held in private collections across Europe. Beyond painting, ARVY is also known for his creative versatility as a musician and digital creator, bringing the same intensity and imagination to sound, movement, and image.

Thank you for considering ARVY’s work. This portrait is sure to be a standout addition to any collection of modern or contemporary art!
