ARVY - Heavy Crowns -XXL

- Heavy Crowns -
ORIGINAL Painting, character portraiture by ARVY

The painting is 100% hand-painted using highly pigmented artist-grade acrylic paints and finished with a UV-protective satin varnish. It is created on unprimed, firm, robust, and kink-resistant gallery-quality canvas (360 g/m²) without a stretcher frame.
Dimensions: 105x165 cm (entire canvas)

Artwork Overview:

They received everything they were told to want. None of them looks convinced.

Three crowned figures stand in a row as though posing for an official portrait. The character on the left bares a line of yellow teeth, caught somewhere between pride and defence. The smaller figure in the centre appears frozen beneath its sharp crown, while the largest presence on the right wears the grandest crown of all—yet carries the most uncertain expression. Their wide eyes reveal vigilance rather than victory.

In Heavy Crowns, ARVY transforms the crown from a simple symbol of power into a psychological weight. It may represent status, ambition, family expectations or the public identity a person must continue performing once others begin to admire it. The characters have reached the top, but no one taught them how to feel comfortable there.

Monumental black forms rise against a warm, sand-coloured ground. Red mouths and accents of cobalt blue, pale pink, yellow and mint green create a restrained but vivid rhythm. Deliberately naïve proportions meet raw neo-expressionist marks, while exposed revisions and wandering lines resemble private thoughts escaping through the surface of a formal portrait.

By giving authority such fragile, childlike faces, ARVY makes power human again. Beneath the crowns are three beings still waiting for permission to relax. The painting captures an uneasy truth: sometimes the heaviest role is the one everyone congratulates you for achieving.

Artist Bio:
ARVY is a fourth-generation artist continuing a family legacy of visual and performance art. He studied painting at an art college, graduating in 2016, and has been active in the art world ever since.

Raised in a creative household, ARVY began his artistic path in childhood while assisting his father — painter, illusionist and performer Arvydas Gaičiūnas ( Retne ), co-founder of Magic Theater DiArchy. This early exposure to both visual art and stage performance shaped his distinctive, theatrical sensibility.

ARVY’s work is eclectic and emotionally charged, blending elements of contemporary expressionism, symbolism, street energy, and poetic abstraction. His pieces explore contrasts — chaos and harmony, intuition and control — reflecting the pulse of modern life through vivid color and raw gesture.

He has exhibited internationally and his works are held in private collections across Europe. Beyond painting, ARVY is also known for his creative versatility as a musician and digital creator, bringing the same intensity and imagination to sound, movement, and image.

Thank you for considering ARVY’s work. This portrait is sure to be a standout addition to any collection of modern or contemporary art!
