Highlights

A British Motoring Icon

Introduced in 1961, the Jaguar E-Type combined dramatic styling with engineering heavily influenced by Jaguar’s successful competition experience. Its long bonnet, compact cabin, flowing roofline, and exceptionally low stance created a shape that quickly became one of the most recognizable designs in automotive history.

3.8-Litre XK Inline-Six

The 1964 Series 1 was powered by Jaguar’s celebrated 3.8-litre XK inline-six engine, producing approximately 265 bhp in period SAE gross specification. Combined with a 4-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive, it delivered formidable performance for an early-1960s road car.

Competition-Inspired Engineering

The E-Type incorporated sophisticated engineering including independent suspension and four-wheel disc brakes. Its structural concept and aerodynamic thinking drew heavily on lessons learned through Jaguar’s racing programme, helping combine high-speed capability with remarkable road-going refinement.

Timeless Proportions

The Series 1 E-Type is defined by its covered headlights, small oval grille opening, exceptionally long bonnet, wire wheels, curved glasshouse, and beautifully tapered rear bodywork. These elements created a design that remains immediately recognizable decades after its introduction.

The artwork includes:

Large three-quarter illustration in British Racing Green
