Antique De Maelzel metronome

Very old metronome. Wood type: teak.
The metronome consists of an inverted pendulum. The pendulum moves regularly back and forth and in each cycle there are two clearly audible clicks. By adjustment of a weight on the pendulum the pendulum time can be changed. On the Inside parchment paper with the printing of the Italian music terms presto, allegro, andante, adagio, larghetto and largo with the print at the bottom of a small drawing/symbol.
The metronome can be wound with the corresponding key. The metronome is finished on the front with a brass plate stating Maelzel.

Johann Nepomuk Maelzel is known as metronome builder around 1820, r. a patent that Maelzel had registered in Paris.

Height 23 cm, width 11 cm x 11 cm.

In working condition, light traces of wear Numbered on the bottom (see photo).
