Vintage pineapple-shaped jug produced by Michael Andersen & Sons, Bornholm, Denmark, circa 1935.
This uniquely organic interpretation of the Art Deco style is highly playful and decorative but also functions as a usable object.
Michael Andersen & Sons was founded in the 1880's by Jens Michael Andersen, who employed his four sons at the pottery. The company is best known for the wares produced in the mid-20th century under the direction of Marianne Starck. Earlier examples of the potteries' output, such as this Art Deco jug, are difficult to find.
Marked on the bottom with the number: 4621-2.
