PeDe - Molinillo de café - Cerámica

Offered for auction is an iconic and beautifully preserved PeDe wall-mounted coffee grinder, a true staple of the classic Dutch kitchen. Produced in the PeDe (Peter Dienes) factory in Breukelen, Netherlands, this piece dates from the 1930s-1950s. Featuring a ceramic hopper with stylish Art Deco "Koffie" lettering and its original graduated glass catch-cup, this grinder is in remarkable condition for its age. A wonderful and functional piece of Dutch design history. Detailed Description: Manufacturer: PeDe (Peter Dienes), produced in the Dutch factory in Breukelen. Period: Circa 1930s - 1950s. Design: A quintessential example of pre- and post-war Dutch functional design. The distinctive green lettering on the word "Koffie" is a fine example of the Art Deco influence popular during that era. Materials: The grinder consists of a ceramic hopper, a robust cast iron grinding mechanism, and is mounted on its original painted wooden backboard. Crucially, it includes the original graduated glass catch-cup, which is often missing. Functionality: The hand-crank mechanism turns smoothly. The burr grinder inside appears to be in good condition, ready to grind coffee after a gentle cleaning. Condition: In excellent vintage condition, showing only minor signs of age and use that contribute to its authentic character. The ceramic hopper is fully intact, with no chips or cracks. The green lettering is vibrant and clear. The cast iron body is in great shape, with the "PeDe" name clearly embossed. The original glass catch-cup is present and free from damage. The wooden backboard has some light wear consistent with its 70+ year age. Please examine the photos carefully, as they form an integral part of the description. Dimensions (approximate): Total Height: 34 cm Width of backboard: 13 cm Depth from wall: 17 cm Shipping: This item will be packaged with the utmost care to ensure its safe arrival, with special protection for the ceramic and glass components. It will be shipped from the Netherlands with a track & trace code and insurance.
