Edad del Bronce Bronce Arrowhead Group (3) (Sin Precio de Reserva)

A group of three Bronze Age bronze arrowheads. All three arrowheads feature triangular blades. Two arrowheads feature a raised central midrib that leads to a short stem and narrow tang, one with sharp barbs and a long tang and the other with square shoulders and a short tang. The remaining arrowhead is formed from a thin piece of bronze, featuring sharp barbs and a rectangular tang. Patination and earthly encrustations to the surface. Signs of wear as consistent with age, such as chips to the edges, scratches, and surface roughness. In ancient times a number of nomadic populations, such as the Medes and the Kassites, settled in the Western Asiatic area. Due to the nomadic nature of the tribes, none of the bronzes were of great size, since it was required for them to be light and portable. Excavated items often included weapons, tools, and finials, as well as small amulets and fittings. Everyday objects are also found including pins and bracelets. Their artwork mainly comprises ornaments, vessels and weapons. Archaeological evidence suggests that the bronze objects often serve ceremonial functions given their funerary contexts. Measurements: (circa) L 8.4-10.7cm x W 2.1-2.4cm Provenance: Ex. London Collection, formed between 1990 - present.
