Empoli - Tarro - Vidrio opalino - Compote

Mid-Century Empoli Opalino Glass Covered Compote – Blue, Very Good Condition, Original Sticker This exquisite lidded compote showcases the timeless beauty of Empoli Opalino glass, hand-blown in the Tuscany region of Italy. The piece features graceful curves, a delicately flared stem, and a smooth, domed lid with a finial top. Its luminous gradient of deep cobalt to soft sky blue exemplifies the refined artistry of mid-century Italian glassmaking. The interior is finished in milky white, enhancing the glass’s characteristic opalescent glow. Marked with the original “Opalina” foil label, this piece dates from the 1950s–1960s, a period when Empoli artisans were celebrated for their mastery of Opalino glass — a type of semi-opaque glass developed in the early 19th century, inspired by Murano traditions but distinct for its thicker, more fluid form and soft, pastel hues. Empoli glassworks, located southwest of Florence, became a major center for decorative glass production in the 20th century, rivaling Murano in innovation and style. Empoli’s “Opalino” series remains highly sought after today for its elegant simplicity, vibrant color palette, and exceptional craftsmanship. Condition: Very good vintage condition with minimal signs of age. Retains the original Opalino sticker Will be well packaged, protected and insured
