Very beautiful set of three illustrated volumes published by The Folio Society in London. 1. “The Adventures of Robin Hood” collected and retold by Roger Lancelyn Green, 2001 first edition thus published by The Folio Society in London. Illustrated throughout with 11 illustrations by world-renowned artist John Holder. Illustrated endpapers. The book is printed on Caxton Wove paper. A very fine book free from internal inscriptions, bound in dark green cloth blocked with a design by the artist. Page tops stained dark green. Roger Lancelyn Green (1918-1987), an Oxford academic who formed part of the literary discussion group along with C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien, was a British biographer and children’s writer. Green became known primarily for his writings for children, and particularly for his retellings of Robin Hood and other early tales. The book has 222 pages. Its dimensions are - without slipcase: height 25.5 cm, length 19 cm, width: 4.3 cm; with slipcase on: height 26.5 cm, length 20 cm, width: 4.6 cm. The book is in mint, as new, pristine condition without any faults at view. It is unread, it has no wear to the cover and spine and no wear to pages. It completely maintains the very high standard levels of Folio Society publications. The protective green slipcase shows no shelf wear. Aesop's Fables, or the Aesopica, is a collection of fables credited to Aesop, a slave and storyteller who lived in ancient Greece between 620 and 564 BCE. The book has 152 pages. Its dimensions are - without slipcase: height 25.5 cm, length 19.5 cm, width: 3.5 cm; with slipcase on: height 26.2 cm, length 19.8 cm, width: 3.9 cm.
