The series “Echoes of Schiele” explores the human body through a reduced visual language rooted in distortion, tension, and vulnerability. Inspired by Egon Schiele’s radical figuration, the works focus on the expressive potential of the line rather than anatomical accuracy. Each figure is captured in a moment of inwardness, suspended between intimacy and abstraction. The absence of color directs attention to gesture, contour, and psychological presence.

This work is part of the series “TORSO” which investigates the expressive force of the human figure through contour and distortion. The single, uninterrupted line emphasizes fragility and tension, revealing the body as both subject and symbol. Stripped of color and narrative, the drawing highlights immediacy, gesture, and the psychological charge embedded in the human form.

Ferdinand Hager is a contemporary visual artist based in Germany. He studied at the University of Arts and Design (HfG) in Karlsruhe and has exhibited his work in Karlsruhe, Berlin, and Los Angeles. Hager is a co-founder of the art collective “echtes Design” and part of the artist duo LuVe Art, through which he explores collaborative approaches to image, form, and process. His individual practice moves between expressive figurative drawing and intuitive color compositions, combining precision and spontaneity. Themes of tension, vulnerability, and transformation recur throughout his work, reflecting a sensitivity to both human form and emotional resonance.
