A BIRTHDAY WATCH IS A WATCH THAT WAS PRODUCED THE SAME MONTH AND YEAR AS YOUR BIRTH MONTH AND YEAR Make: Seiko Type: Analog Quartz Model: Quartz Type II Year of Production: August 1978 Movement: 7546 Quartz Hand and Dial: Baton Indices with Dagger Hands Width: 35mm Lug to Lug Height: 40mm Thickness: 10mm Lug Width: 17mm Strap: High-Quality Marumen Vintage SS Super Engineer Bracelet with Clasp Buckle Pouch / Box: Brand-New EVA Type Zipper Pouch Introduced in December 1969, the Seiko Quartz Astron is often credited as the world's first commercially available quartz wristwatch. Quartz watches use a quartz crystal oscillator to keep time, which is much more accurate than the traditional mechanical movements used in wristwatches at the time. The quartz movement in the Astron was incredibly precise, with an accuracy of within 5 seconds per month, far superior to mechanical watches of the era. The introduction of the Seiko Quartz Astron had a profound impact on the watch industry. It marked the beginning of the Quartz Revolution that led to the decline of traditional mechanical watches in the market and the rise of more accurate and affordable quartz timepieces. Seiko's Quartz Astron was showcased at the Baselworld watch fair in Switzerland in 1970, where it received international attention and acclaim because this watch change horology history forever. Seiko introduced the Type II quartz series circa 1976 as a supposed entry level quartz movement but its quality had surpassed its price range, thus the market responded and made the Type II series the Seiko watch to own reminiscent of the Casio G-Shock craze of the 90s. For Seiko Collectors and Vintage fans, this is a Seiko Type II 7546-8070 which is one of the most sort after Seiko model; and its unique bronze-red coloured dial with 3D silver indices and dagger hands adds class. This is a highly sort-after Collectible timepiece. This Lord Matic style shaped silver case was given a good rub while maintaining its sharp lines and sexy curves. Most imperfections were removed without compromising the case shape. The crystal is original and was given a good rub as well. The crown is located at its traditional 3H position and is easily accessible. The movement was given a good servicing, and its dial was meticulously cleaned, and its battery replaced on 4 November 2025. It should be able to operate unhindered until the next battery change thereby providing the owner peace of mind. The case width and height are approximately 35mm (w/o crown) and 40mm respectively. The lug to lug is 17mm and the bracelet can accommodate wrists up to 20cm; hence, this watch is suitable for men and the modern women. The bracelet is a high quality Marumen vintage SS bracelet with clasp buckle that adds finesse to this timepiece. The bracelet was thoroughly cleaned via ultrasonic immersion and was given a good buff afterwards; and all links were tightened for better lifespan. To the best of our knowledge and expertise when servicing the timepiece, the watch is 100% original Seiko components from this particular watch. No parts were replaced with aftermarket parts or modified thereby it is considered in near mint condition. Even though the seals and gaskets are present, this timepiece has not been water-resistant tested due to its age. The pictures provided show the watch’s case in excellent condition and well maintained. The only drawback is the lack of documentation and original box. A nice purposeful carrying case or box will be provided instead. Bear in mind that this watch has seen many of the previous owners’ ups and downs in life, and should be cherished and well taken care of for the next generation to savour such engineering beauty. Yes, there are many other same models in the market, ut almost all are not in the same quality condition and as well maintained as what you see here. Hence, it is a no-brainer that this one-of-a-kind timepiece will make an extremely beautiful birthday present for that special someone born in August 1978! This is a highly sort-after Collectors Seiko Type II 7546-8070 in stunning condition; so, be unique and wear a watch that is very rare and almost impossible to source. This is a must-have for the Seiko die-hard fan, and in fact, any serious watch collector!
